Jennifer Herrema

1 Nov

I have a long standing crush on Jennifer Herrema. So it makes me happy to see her all partnered up with lovely babe Kurt Vile for this “Before They Make Me Run” Stones’ cover. Give a listen on Pitchfork.

I haven’t given her new project, Black Bananas, much attention yet – but you should right here.

In addition to being such a sweet dude, Sean Spellman of Quiet Life is really great to listen to.

Check out this video from Natural Beardy and then catch them on tour with Dr. Dog through November.

Whiskey Wednesdays

So it appears we have a crush on Jake Ray. Who wouldn’t. Get down to the Landmark Saloon on Wednesdays already – and make Portland feel like a night at the Redder (aka The Red Rock –  my hometown Iowa bar).

So according to this Portland is one of the most “oversexed” cities in America. Damn! Because last I heard Portland was more buttoned up than bottoms up.

Anyone get surveyed for this one? Anyone agree?

LUCE!

8 Sep

Let there be light! Luce, baby sister to Navarre and Una is open!! Serving delicious Italian food for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through Sunday 11am to 10pm. I have had the pleasure of working with Owners John and Giovanna for events and now in the restaurant and I am really excited to be a part of the Luce family. John Willis has created a menu that travels the regional tastes of Italy that includes handmade pastas and a variety of antipasti’s such as cardoons and olives in oil and polpettes. Should you be looking for something to take home, we offer a range of imported delights (pastas, olive oils, vinegars, jams, etc.), antipasti in bulk, italian sweets, and handmade kitchen items. We also do catering and rent out the adjoining space for events. Please forgive my blatant promotion, I am just so excited!! Come say hi!!!
